The title “Engineer” is much more than just a designation: it’s a testament to integrity, a seal of professional excellence, and a passport to a world of opportunities. It gives you direct access to a unique range of tools to develop your expertise, a platform to showcase your skills to clients and businesses, and a dynamic community of over 77,000 engineering professionals.
Imagine having the expertise to shape decisions and turn ideas into reality. The title “Eng.” is a confirmation of your commitment to excellence, ethical standards, and innovation. It’s also a gateway to the kinds of projects that can transform society and shape the world of tomorrow.
Your path starts here.
You can enroll in the Professional Admission Program once you’ve accumulated 60 university credits. Access the program up to six months after receiving your engineering degree. But the earlier you start, the better. As you progress through the program, you’ll build your expertise and strengthen your interpersonal skills, all under the expert guidance of your “eng.” supervisor. Meanwhile, you’ll use the title “Candidate to the Engineering Profession” (CEP).
The program is divided into three components, which you must complete within five years.
This component consists of 30 hours of online training. You will complete courses on the legal, ethical, and professional aspects of engineering, after which you will need to pass a professional practice exam.
The practical component consists of 24 months of accumulated engineering experience. In other words, you’ll be taking part in professional activities under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
The Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) requires that you demonstrate proficiency in French. You can do so in one of the following ways: 1. Complete at least three years of full-time study at the secondary or post-secondary level. 2. Pass the fourth- or fifth-year secondary level exams in French as a first language (mother tongue). 3. Pass the OQLF French exam.
Get half off your first year of enrollment in the program if you enroll no later than six months after completing your degree.
Becoming an engineer means more than simply choosing a profession: it requires commitment, responsibility, and genuine pride in what you do. Take the lead in groundbreaking projects that define history.
A CEP (Candidate to the Engineering Profession) is the title given to individuals enrolled in the Professional Admission Program.
If you are a recent or current Québec student, simply fill out the admission form and submit the required documents.
We’ll be here to support you every step of the way.
Anywhere from two to five years. You’ll need to gain a minimum of 24 months of practical experience under the supervision of an experienced engineer to fulfill the key competency requirements. You have up to five years to complete the program and advance from “CEP” to “eng.”
If you are a Québec student, you can apply for admission as soon as you’ve accumulated 60 credits in an accredited undergraduate engineering program, even if you do not yet have a job in the engineering field. It will take 8 to 12 weeks to evaluate your application once submitted. You’ll receive notification of the admissions committee’s decision by email.
As with all things in engineering, this depends on a number of factors. However, here’s the most likely scenario for Québec students and graduates. You will need to pay a fee for each of the following:
See here to view the complete list of program fees.
*A renewal fee applies each year you are enrolled in the program, except for students, who are exempt from this fee. Register during your studies or within six months after graduation and get 50% off the program registration fee.
