The OIQ has members who have graduated in all fields of engineering, except for forest engineering. With more than 60,000 members, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec is one of the largest professional organizations in Québec.
The OIQ has worked for many years to promote and facilitate the integration of women
in the profession. In 2011, there were more than 7,600 women registered on the roll of the OIQ.
Graduates of faculties and schools of engineering in Québec and engineering graduates from other provinces and countries may apply for admission to the OIQ.
The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec is open to everyone. Its very high standards are recognized throughout Canada and in many other countries. Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs
du Québec increases your professional mobility and gives you a better chance at being able
to practice your profession wherever your career takes you.
The OIQ helps its recruits take their first professional steps. Once you are registered on the roll
as a junior engineer, if you want, you will be matched with an experienced engineer who will act
as your sponsor as you learn and discover your rights and obligations.
