Who is the professional exam intended for?<\/h2>\n

The professional exam is required for candidates to the engineering profession (CEP) and holders of a temporary restrictive permit, including individuals who studied engineering in France. It is a mandatory step toward obtaining an engineer\u2019s permit in Quebec. The exam helps ensure that future engineers understand the rules, responsibilities, and ethical standards governing engineering practice in Quebec. Similar exams are required across Canada.<\/p>\n

How to register and what it costs<\/h2>\n

Registration and fees<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once you have completed the four mandatory online training modules, you will receive an email with instructions on how to register for an upcoming exam session. Consult our fee schedule for applicable fees.<\/p>\n

Register at least one month before the selected exam date.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you need to reschedule, contact us at (examenprofessionnel@oiq.qc.ca<\/a>) at least one month before the exam date. Otherwise, no refund will be issued, and a new registration fee will apply. Fees vary depending on your status as a candidate (CEP) or a holder of a temporary restrictive permit (TRP).<\/p>\n

Candidate to the engineering profession (CEP)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before taking the professional exam, you must complete the four mandatory theoretical training modules included in the Professional Admission Program. The training is available through your portal<\/a>. Once you have completed the mandatory training, you will receive an email inviting you to register for the professional exam. This email will include a link to the registration platform to view the exam schedule and complete your registration. After completing the training, you will receive an email with a link to the registration platform, where you can view upcoming exam dates and register.<\/div>\n

Temporary restrictive permit (TRP) holders

\nYour first exam attempt is free of charge. Before registering, however, you must complete the Parcours de formations pr\u00e9paratoires \u00e0 l\u2019examen professionnel<\/em>. These online courses are available only in French and can be accessed through your portal. They are mandatory under the R\u00e8glement sur la d\u00e9livrance d\u2019un permis de l\u2019Ordre des ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec pour donner effet \u00e0 l\u2019arrangement conclu par l\u2019Ordre en vertu de l\u2019Entente entre le Qu\u00e9bec et la France en mati\u00e8re de reconnaissance mutuelle des qualifications professionnelles.<\/a><\/p>\n

What to expect on exam day<\/h2>\n

The professional exam is written in French (except in certain situations authorized by the OIQ). It lasts three hours and includes approximately 100 multiple-choice questions.<\/p>\n

To ensure a fair testing environment for all candidates, reference materials, mobile phones, smart watches, and other electronic devices are not permitted during the exam.<\/p>\n
