Who is the professional exam intended for?<\/h2>\n

The professional exam is for candidates to the engineering profession (CEP) and holders of a temporary restrictive permit, including individuals who studied engineering in France. It is an essential step to obtain your engineer\u2019s permit.<\/p>\n

This exam aims to ensure that future engineers are familiar with the professional, regulatory, and ethical framework for the practice of engineering in Quebec. Professional engineering associations in other Canadian provinces require a similar exam.<\/p>\n

How to register, and what is the cost<\/span><\/h2>\n

Registration and fees<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once you’ve completed the 4 blocks of training in the theory section, you’ll receive an email inviting you to register for the next exam session of your choice. Consult our fee schedule<\/a> for registration fees.<\/p>\n

You must register at least one month before the date of the selected exam session.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you need to reschedule your exam, you must contact us at least one month before the exam date by email: examenprofessionnel@oiq.qc.ca<\/a>. Otherwise, you won\u2019t be reimbursed and will be required to pay the registration fee again.<\/p>\n

The cost of taking the exam depends on your status and whether you are a candidate to the engineering profession (CEP) or hold a temporary restrictive permit (TRP).<\/p>\n

If you are a candidate to the engineering profession (CEP)<\/strong>
\nBefore registering for the professional exam, you must complete the 4 mandatory theoretical training as part of the Professional admission program. This training is accessible from your CEP portal<\/a>. Once you have completed the mandatory theoretical training, you will receive an email inviting you to register for the professional exam. This email will include a link to the registration platform to view the exam schedule and complete your registration.<\/p>\n

If you hold a temporary restrictive permit<\/strong>
\nThe first registration for the exam is free. However, before you can register, you must complete the “Parcours de formations pr\u00e9paratoires \u00e0 l\u2019examen professionnel.” These online training courses are only available in french and accessible from your portal. They are mandatory under the R\u00e8glement sur la d\u00e9livrance d\u2019un permis de l\u2019Ordre des ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec pour donner effet \u00e0 l\u2019arrangement conclu par l\u2019Ordre en vertu de l\u2019Entente entre le Qu\u00e9bec et la France en mati\u00e8re de reconnaissance mutuelle des qualifications professionnelles.<\/a><\/p>\n

Once you have completed the theoretical training, you will receive an email inviting you to register for the professional exam. It will include a link to the registration platform to view upcoming exam dates and proceed with your registration. What to expect on the day of the exam<\/h2>\n

The exam must be taken in French (with a few exceptions) and lasts three (3) hours. It consists of about 100 multiple-choice questions. No documentation or electronic devices are permitted during the exam.<\/p>\n

What to bring<\/h2>\n

A pencil and photo ID<\/strong> to identify yourself on the day of the exam.<\/p>\n
