Becoming an Engineer in Quebec<\/h2>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

You’re about to embark on a great adventure. To apply to the Ordre des ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec, all you need to do is complete 60 credits of your bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution in Quebec. You can also apply after graduation.<\/p>\n

1. Apply for Admission<\/strong>
\nComplete your application online and pay the required fees. It’s quick and easy.<\/p>\n

2. Register to the Professional Admission Program
\n<\/strong>Once admitted, you can register for the Professional Admission Program. You will then be designated as a Candidate to the Engineering Profession (CEP). You will have 5 years to complete the 3 components of the program.<\/p>\n

3. Obtain Your Engineering Permit<\/strong>
\nOnce you have successfully completed all three components of the program, including the professional exam, your file will be reviewed by the Admission to Practice Committee. Once approved, you will receive your permit and be invited to register with the OIQ to use the title Engineer.<\/p>\n\n<\/div> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Professional Admission Program<\/h2>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

The Professional Admission Program is the heart of the process of becoming a professional engineer. During this time, you will learn to practice engineering with professionalism. You can apply to the OIQ and enroll in this program once you have completed 60 credits of your undergraduate engineering degree, or after graduation.<\/p>\n

It consists of 3 components: practical, theoretical and linguistic, to be completed within a maximum of 5 years. Only the theoretical component is available to candidates who have accumulated 60 credits by the time they receive their diploma.<\/p>\n

Throughout the program, you will be a “candidate to the engineering profession” or its abbreviation “CEP”, a recognized professional title. You will not be able to use the title “Engineer” until you have obtained your permit to practice and are registered on the OIQ’s roll.
