Here are the most common ones:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Misusing the title &#8220;engineer&#8221; or its abbreviation (&#8220;ing&#8221; or &#8220;P.Eng.&#8221;) or falsely implying that one is authorized to practise engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Practising engineering without being a member of the OIQ.<\/li>\n<li>Using plans or specifications not signed and sealed by an engineer to perform engineering work.<\/li>\n<li>Illegally authenticating an engineering document with a seal, signature or initials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Whether intentional or not, these violations compromise public safety and are therefore punishable by fines.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div  class=\"block-wrapper \" data-block-name=\"Nouvelle Section\">\n<div class=\"new-section \" >\n        <div class=\"ns-container\">\n                            <div class=\"ns-inner\">\n                    <div class=\"ns-content\">\n                        <div class=\"container\">\n                            <div class=\"row\">\n                                <div class=\"col-12\">\n                                    <div class=\"ns-title\">\n                                                                                    <h2 class=\"ns-title\">How does the OIQ work to prevent illegal practice?<\/h2>\n                                                                            <\/div>\n                                <\/div>\n                                <div class=\"col-12\">\n                                    <div class=\"ns-txt\">\n                                                                                    <div class=\"wysiwyg \">\n\t<h3>Prevention<\/h3>\n<p>Our prevention conselors regularly inspect private and public organizations, as authorized by the Engineers Act. The conselors provide these organizations with tools and information on the legal and regulatory requirements\u00a0 governing the practice of engineering.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:loi.ing@oiq.qc.ca\">Contact us<\/a> to schedule a training session tailored to your organization&#8217;s needs<\/p>\n<h3>Monitoring<\/h3>\n<p>The OIQ makes unannounced visits to construction sites throughout the province.<\/p>\n<p>During these random visits, our inspectors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confirm that any engineering work is being performed according to plans and specifications signed and sealed by a member of the OIQ or by a person holding a temporary permit.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure engineers, contractors, and municipalities are aware of the all legal requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The\u00a0 objective is not to control the quality of the work. However any situation deemed dangerous will be reported to the appropriate authorities (such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnesst.gouv.qc.ca\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNESST<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the inspector may take photographs or request information and documents on a project or work in the process.
