Mr. Michaud has had a long and prolific career spanning four decades. During this time, he has acted as Vice President, Facilities Operation, at Hydro-Québec TransÉnergie, as a specialized consultant to the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) for Réno-Systèmes, as Vice President of Connexim, Vice President for Québec at Trilliant Networks Inc., and as Senior Partner at ADS Ltd.
The OIQ wishes Mr. Michaud all the best and thanks him for his dedication and commitment.
The staffing process to find his successor will run its course in the coming weeks. In the interim, Kathy Baig, Eng., FEC, MBA, President of the OIQ, will take over executive management duties.
A new syndic
The OIQ’s Board of Directors has also appointed Réal Giroux, Eng., MBA, to the position of OIQ Syndic. He will begin his duties on March 25.
Mr. Giroux has held the position of Assistant Syndic since January 16, 2012 and Expert Advisor to Office of the Syndic since April 14, 2014. In this capacity, he coordinated the anti-collusion/corruption unit. During his career, he has worked for over 20 years as a manager at telecommunications companies (Bell Canada, Télébec, Nortel and Téléglobe). Mr. Giroux has a Bachelor of Engineering (in electrical engineering with a concentration in telecommunications) from École Polytechnique. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and a Master Certificate in Project Management (MCPM) from George Washington University (GWU).
