    The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec and its foundation give over $160,000 in awards and scholarships to students

    • Montreal, April 9, 2013 – In order to encourage future engineers, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) and the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation presented over $160,000 in awards and scholarships to students this year. The names of all recipients were announced yesterday at the OIQ’s 2013 Gala de l’excellence.
    • The Fellowship for Excellence in Graduate Studies and the three Student Awards of Merit were awarded to engineering students who are members of the OIQ’s Student Section and whose academic results and social and community commitment reflect the values of the profession:

       

      • Dominic de Lanauze, Jr. Eng., a graduate biomedical engineering student at École Polytechnique de Montréal, received the Fellowship for Excellence in Graduate Studies presented by Gestion FÉRIQUE (worth $7,500);

       

      • Isabelle Galarneau, an electrical engineering student at the École de technologie supérieure, received the first Student Award of Merit, worth $7,500;

       

      • Nicolas Fabien-Ouellet, a bioresource engineering student at McGill University, received the second Student Award of Merit presented by TD Insurance Meloche Monnex and Engineers Canada, which is worth $5,000;

       

      • Myriam Caron St-Pierre, an electrical engineering student at the Université de Sherbrooke, received the third Student Award of Merit presented by National Bank, which is worth $3,000;

       

      In addition, more than fifty scholarships for the future of the profession (“Avenir de la profession”) were awarded by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation in order to provide financial assistance to students at CEGEPs (worth $2,000) and universities (worth $3,000).
