The mission of the Énergia Awards is to recognize outstanding energy efficiency achievements in Québec in categories such as buildings, technological innovations, industrial or manufacturing processes, transportation, integrated management and GHG reduction.
The OIQ and energy challenges
The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec works actively on energy issues and contributes to the development of policies in this area. Last fall, the OIQ submitted its
recommendations for the Québec government’s forthcoming energy Policy to the Commission on Energy Issues. In its brief, the OIQ reminded the government that the first and foremost objective of an energy policy is to make more economical choices, which incorporate the social and environmental costs of using energy. The OIQ was the only order out of Québec’s 45 professional orders to have participated in this consultation.
In addition, the OIQ uses its publications to inform its members about these issues. The April-May 2014 issue of PLAN, the OIQ’s magazine, will feature a special report on major energy issues. The
May 2012 issue also included an article on this topic.
