“This astronaut’s career is inspiring to the entire profession and especially to the 8,000 women engineers in Québec who work in all fields of engineering and directly contribute to society’s well-being,” added Mr. Lebel.
The OIQ is particularly happy that Ms. Payette has now chosen to dedicate all of her energy to sparking an interest in young people for science and technology. For the third consecutive year, the OIQ is also a sponsor of the “Engineering Zone” of the Eurêka! Festival, an initiative of the Montreal Science Centre.
In addition, the OIQ has organized and actively supports a large number of science education activities in the interest of helping to build a future generation of engineers and applied scientists: placepourtoi.ca site, partnership with Télé-Québec for the show Génial!, support for Youth Fusion’s First Robotics Québec competition, etc.
