March is National Engineering Month!
The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is proud to join forces with the École de technologie supérieure (ETS) to offer young people a chance to share the passion for engineering. A tour of secondary schools will be organized in March, where student members of the science and technology club at ETS will present many of the projects they have completed to secondary school students. From the remote-controlled cargo aircraft and single-seat racecar to the Omer human-powered submarine, young people will be given a live lesson in engineering.
Other ETS students will discuss why they chose to become involved in humanitarian aid missions by designing and executing an engineering project in a developing country (construction of a maternity hospital in
By participating in the 2009 National Engineering Month, the OIQ hopes to open new career opportunities for teenagers. "Young people will be able to follow in the footsteps of the 57,500 engineering professionals, OIQ members, who contribute to the socio-economic development of Québec and whose achievements are all around us in all spheres of human activity," stated the President of the OIQ, Zaki Ghavitian, Eng.
