2010 FELLOWSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE IN GRADUATE STUDIES : Call for Applications

The pursuit of excellence is embodied by the quest for exceptional quality in all things. This philosophy is accompanied by certain fundamental values. The practice of engineering, the profession you are working toward, is necessarily based on competence, responsibility, ethics and social commitment. These values underlie the Policy on the enhancement of professional excellence of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).

Description and specific objectives

One fellowship is awarded for all of Québec to a student member of the Student Section– Graduate Studies who satisfies the following requirements:

• Is registered full-time in a program at a Québec school or faculty of engineering leading to a D.E.S.S., M.Eng., M.Sc.A., Ph.D. or post-graduate diploma;
• Has a bachelor of engineering degree conferred by a Québec university-level institution;
• Has never received a junior engineer, engineer-in-training or engineer’s permit from the OIQ;
• Is studying in a field deemed relevant to the advancement of the profession.

Eligibility criteria

Eligible for this fellowship are students in fields of engineering or applied sciences who are members in good standing of the Student Section – Graduate Studies of the OIQ at the time they apply. Applicants must have:

• Completed a minimum of two semesters in the program at the time they apply
• Demonstrate a cumulative general average of 3 out of a maximum grade of 4.3 or the equivalent.
• The graduate program must include the submission of a personal project in the form of a thesis, dissertation or project.
• The winner must have his or her principal residence in Québec at the time of application and provide a photograph for purposes of publication.

Eligible students must apply themselves in accordance with the rules indicated and provide the required documents.
The amount of the fellowship is $7,500. The award is accompanied by a plaque and is presented at an official reception during the activities associated with the Annual General Meeting of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. The fellowship is paid in two installments, 75% when the fellowship is awarded and 25% after registration on the membership roll of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
