Lodging a complaint
Do you wish to formulate a complaint regarding the conduct or skills of an engineer, a fraudulent practice-or even the quality of services provided by the Order? Please address such a complaint to the appropriate party listed below:
The Office of the Syndic deals with complaints pertaining to inappropriate conduct by a member of the Order, including negligence, lack of integrity, lack of diligence or any other offence that might be committed by an engineer.
The Order's Professional Inspection service receives complaints pertaining to any incompetence that might be exhibited by an engineer. If you believe, for example, that an engineer lacks the proper skills to perform his work, please contact this service.
The Order's Illegal Practice Supervision Service receives complaints pertaining to illegal practices by a person or company not a member of the OIQ. These include illegal practice of the profession, the use of plans that have not been signed and sealed, the unlawful use of the reserved title or work done without the supervision of an engineer. To lodge a complaint or report an offence under the Engineers Act involving a person or company claiming to be or acting as an engineer without being registered on the Membership Roll, please print, complete and send us the following form, accompanied by supporting evidence. The ombudsman assesses complaints pertaining to the Order's relations with its members or with the public. The complaint could pertain to the work of one of the Order's employees or to the quality of service provided.
An account mediation and arbitration service is also provided by the Order. A customer who disagrees with an engineer's bill can ask the Order to mediate and, where applicable, hear the case and arbitrate the dispute.
