Ombudsman
In carrying out its duties, the OIQ must communicate with its 53,000 members, multiple organizations and the general public. In all of its dealings, the Order seeks to act in a skilful, courteous and respectful manner.
It may, however, occur that someone is unhappy about the way his case has been handled. That is why the Order has created an office of ombudsman to examine complaints with respect to the quality of its services.
The ombudsman oversees the Order's quality standards. The ombudsman's office is called into play when the Order's traditional mechanisms have failed to resolve the situation. The ombudsman must then determine if the complaint he receives is well founded, based on the Order's policies, philosophy and image. He then transmits the conclusions of his investigation to the complainant and to officials of the order.
However, complaints pertaining to the professional behaviour of engineers are addressed to the Office of the Syndic and not to that of the ombudsman.
Have you have ever felt, in dealing with the Order, that you were mistreated or the victim of discrimination or of some other form of injustice? If that is the case, please contact the ombudsman at 1-800-898-INGE (4643).
