Contract sharing scheme in Montreal: $11,000 fine for Claude Léger

    jeudi 14 décembre 2017
    • Montreal, December 14, 2017 – The Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec rendered its decision on guilt and sanction in the case of Claude Léger, who has been ordered to pay an $11,000 fine. In its decision, the Disciplinary Council also ordered Mr. Léger to pay all costs in connection with the processing of the complaint.
    • For neglecting to condemn attempts at political interference in the competitive bidding process of the City of Montreal, Mr. Léger was found guilty of violating the Code of Ethics of Engineers by failing to maintain his professional independence and avoid all situations that would put him in a conflict of interest.

Mr. Léger’s alleged offences were committed in 2008, while he was general manager of the City of Montreal.

The full version of the Disciplinary Council’s decision, including the summary of charges, is available on the OIQ’s Web site.

As a reminder, the sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Council are meant to protect the public by dissuading professionals from repeating offences and by setting an example for other members of the profession.
