Unless you have been fully or partially exempted, you must accumulate at least 30 hours of eligible continuing education per 2-year reference period*.
You must report the training activities in which you have participated in your continuing education file in your  portal.
You must keep the relevant supporting documents in your personal records for two years after the reference period ends.
All engineers registered on the roll between April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022 are required to take a training activity on the Engineers Act given by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec before March 31, 2022. For more information about this requirement, click here.

    Initial registration
New members who register for the first time on the OIQ's roll starting in the 2021-2023 reference period must take a pro-rated number of continuing education hours based on the number of full months that have not elapsed during the reference period in progress.

This provision also applies to individuals who have already been OIQ members, such as junior engineers or engineers-in-training who gave up their permit to register for the Professional Admission Program as candidates to the engineering profession (CEPs).

If you are reinstated on the OIQ's roll during a reference period, you must accumulate all of the hours specified for the reference period, i.e. a minimum of 30 hours.
