If you hold a licence to practice engineering issued by another
of Engineers, you may apply for a permit from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec in accordance with the
Regulation respecting the standards for equivalence of diplomas and training for the issue of a permit by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (French only).
Please note that a new Regulation respecting legal authorizations to practice the engineering profession outside Quebec that qualify for a permit from the OIQ (French only) came into force on July 22, 2021. It replaces the previous regulation of the same name.
This is the difference between the two regulations: Instead of the professional examination, permit applicants will now take four (4) online training activities that last a total of 4.75 hours. These training activities are only available in French.
All permit applications sent on or after July 22, 2021 will be subject to the new regulation. Applications sent before this date will be subject to the previous regulation (although you can request that your application be subject to the new regulation by writing to us at firstname.lastname@example.org and sending us the following information: first name, last name, file number and preferred e-mail address).
If you have an EIT permit (Engineer-in-Training), click here.
